Story of Tomyam Master

The History of “Tom Yam Gong”

In the 18th century of Thailand, King of Thailand, Zheng Xin, his precious daughter, princess Miao Yun, was so anxious and instructed the royal chefs to make her some appetizing soup.

The chefs have been racking their brains and finally come up with a sweet and tangy soup which mixture with lemongrass, lemon leaves, southern ginger, chilies, mint, coriander and variety of seafood.

Princess Miao Yun was so pleased with the soup and her appetite was boosted up immediately. King Zheng Xin was delighted too which decided to make it as Thailand national soup and named it as ‘Tom Yam Gong Soup’.

About Tomyam Master

The founder of Tomyam Master was growing up in Raja Uda, Penang whereby there is a Tom Yam Street. Hence, he had a special affection for tom yam soup. Once in a while, he accidentally tasted a bowl of authentic Thai Tom Yum soup during a trip to Thailand, which is completely different from the Malaysian Tom Yum soup. Hence, he couldn’t forget it and was determined to bring it back to Malaysia so that Malaysian could taste such an authentic and genuine Thai “national soup”.
